Opening Reception: May 22, 2016, Sun, 2pm ——”Anger, Compassion, Empathy, Vision, Change” —— As part of CAI’s Rising Artist Exhibition Program, this show of Ted Castro’s artwork shares concerns of the human condition; expressionistic work with importance placed on connections people have with each other.
Use of heavy dark lines and lots of contrast in drawings show figures relating to themselves. Externalized relationships are both drawn and painted.
Touching hands, interconnected limbs, and twisted people suggest how we get along with others.
Ted also has sculptures; both relief and dimensional wood carvings of powerful women, lost male spirit, and the sharing of both.
